A middle-schooler reads the synopsis of Skylar Robbins: The Mystery of Shadow Hills.

I’m available for live Skylar Robbins appearances and question-and-answer bookings regarding the process of creative writing and storytelling. My target audience is 4th-to-7th-graders in Southern California.

I have done readings and book signings at bookstores and libraries in various states across the U.S., and love to meet and interact with Skylar Robbins fans. I also welcome their input and enjoy incorporating my readers’ creative ideas in future Skylar Robbins plots.

Carrie Cross performs a Live Reading of Skylar Robbins

Live Reading by Carrie Cross at the Waterford Public Library

It was wonderful meeting everyone at the Waterford Public Library in Waterford, Wisconsin Friday August 7th during my live reading of Skylar Robbins: The Mystery of Shadow Hills. The librarian, Tricia Cox, planned some fun crafts for the kids, including drawing with invisible ink pens, and using a fingerprinting kit with different colored ink and stamp pads.

After reading chapter one from The Mystery of Shadow Hills (Author Carrie Cross, Teen Mystery Press 2013), I signed books and took pictures with all of the Skylar Robbins fans. Then we had a drawing for prizes! Five kids won free toy binoculars to start their own detective kits, and one girl won a signed copy of The Mystery of Shadow Hills. Thanks to everyone who attended, and to Marjorie Stark Suto photography for recording the event. It was a lot of fun and I hope to come back again next year after publishing, Skylar Robbins: The Mystery of the Missing Heiress (Teen Mystery Press, 2016).

Agents: if you are not getting an Identikit email within a week, it is because you are emailing from an address that can not receive emails. I have had repeated requests from prospective agents and have replied to the address they emailed me from, and my return emails did not go through. Some schools, home computers, and libraries have blocks on their computers and can not receive incoming emails. This is for the students’ safety and I respect this!

Skylar responds to every Secret Agent request and fan letter. If you don’t get a response, it is because of your computer’s settings. Please ask your mom or dad to email me from an address I can reply to.

Carrie Cross has created a jewel of a story with Skylar Robbins: The Mystery of the Hidden Jewels. A follow-up to Skylar Robbins: The Mystery of Shadow Hills, in Ms. Cross’s latest book, Skylar is now fully teenaged: more assertive, technologically savvy and into boys. It was fun seeing how Skylar has matured as she embarks on her latest adventure – solving the whereabouts of an heiress’s missing jewels. All while dealing with the trials and tribulations of adolescence. And with some bad guys looking for the same thing, it becomes a race against time as Skylar tries to stay one step ahead of the bad guys (and some mean girls at school). In this latest edition of the Skylar Robbins Detective series, Ms. Cross captures a young person’s curiosity which will surely inspire young readers. As an adult reader, while I would’ve appreciated a little more rising tension in the plot, I found that the story was a wonderful reminder of the enthusiasm only a teenager can have.
